Music at Night 30 with specical guest Ovi M (Monday November 26)

Born in Romania and raised in Toronto, Ovi M’s musical journey has developed him into a versatile and unique young talent. His determination ultimate passion for music has made him a part of the most sought-after artists in the Toronto electronic music scene and has established himself a residency inside the legendary Guvernment Nightclub amongst many others. Ovi M’s particular track selection, unique style and flawless mixing has ricocheted throughout the scene thus making his name in demand and a guarantee to orchestrate a strong energy and vibe on the dance floor!

On the production side, Ovi M has been creating monster tunes supported by artists such as Dubfire, Marco Carlo, Gary Beck, Erphun, Subfractal, Paco Osuna, and Danny Tenaglia. Ovi M is an exclusive member of the Brood Audio label that showcases some of the finest and groundbreaking techno artists. He has also signed onto many other labels such as Fracture Audio, Sketchbook Music, Nervous NYC, Roots & Wings and more. His love for music has fueled him to capture sounds and to produce his signature pounding, chuggy techno. All of his music is fuelled by rich rolling baselines, underground sounds and killer build-ups that take the crowd on a dark musical ride of expression and excitement. Music at Night 29 with special guest Nigel Best (October 22)

Nigel Best (aka thepharmacist) has been involved in music for most of his life. From the early days of collecting records, DJ’ing at local youth clubs in England, where he grew up, to residencies at various clubs through the disco, new wave and early house music days. Along the way, there’s been his work on radio, record companies and managing the musical careers of artists. In 2000, he returned to playing live, with stops at Pride Toronto (Dirty Disco Stage), WEMF Canada, and clubs in the USA, Canada, and England. He has shared the stage with artists as diverse as Deko-ze, Crystal Castles, Jelo, Adam K, Tom Stephan, HugsNotDrugs, Larry Tee, Mark Flash, Andy Reid, and Samhouse. There has also been many radio show performances as well. Along with his live shows, he is currently involved in music production.

Music at Night 27 with special guest Sergio Key (Monday August 27)

Sergio Key, born in Kiev, Ukraine and currently residing in Toronto, Canada’s clubbing capital. Key has not only established himself as an emerging world class D.J. but also as a prominent radio personality. Following in his father’s footsteps, at a young age of six he began studying piano at the Kiev Conservatory of Music.

At the age of 14 Sergio started his DJ career. Using PC based DJ programs and analog equipment, Sergio chose to bring a laptop,
cd players and a midi controller instead of the more traditional, at the time, record case. The digital technology gave Sergio the ability to manipulate his mixes in ways that were not possible with just a Technics 1200; quickly catapulting him into the spotlight at such prestigious local Toronto Venues as: Sound Academy (Docks), LOT332 and Housexy. Sergio also headlined The New Talent stage at Destiny Production’s World Electronic Music Festival 2007.

Key is a very versatile DJ. He is able to read the crowd and knows how to program the music catering it to a particular demographic.  The DJ talent that Sergio possesses has given him a chance to play alongside some of the world’s most recognized artists including: DJ Preach, Adam Sheridan, Mark EG, Hatiras, Jelo, MSTRKRFT and Pendulum.

After graduating from Seneca’s Business Administration program, Sergio landed a position in radio, playing a key role in establishing Toronto’s Dance Music radio station, branded as Energy Radio CHOQ 105.1FM. At Energy Radio he held a position of a Brand Manager. There Sergio learned the workings of radio.
He had hands-on experience creating sales packages and setting up unique promotional events. Sergio also learned how to write scripts for radio,  as well as produce different elements such as live shows, live to airs, commercials, IDs, and PSAs. This is also the place where Sergio learned the fundamentals of music programming.

Music at Night 26 with special guest Nicolas Oliver (Monday July 23)

We’re back this month with an all new Music at Night. This months special guest is Nicolas Oliver.

A techno artist through and through, Nicolas’ DJ sets and productions focus on sounds from the darker, more aggressive sides of electronic dance music. With an EP coming out on Subfractal’s Frakture Audio , an original track set for release on Shout Records, and a monster remix of an original by Fusky hitting download stores soon via Teggno Records — the third track featured in his guest-mix — Nicolas’ forthcoming releases are sure to attract attention and support from a number of heavy hitters in the techno scene.
